News and Notices

Bereavement Cafe
The Bereavement Café will take place again on Tuesday 14th May, 1.30-3pm in the Lounge. Open to all who have been bereaved recently or in the past. Come on your own or with a friend to meet others also affected by loss, to share experiences, for space to remember those who have died, and to enjoy a cuppa and cake.

APCM

Our Church's Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for May 12th at 12 noon following the 10:30 am service. This is your chance to get involved, have your say, and shape the future of our church community. Join us as we review the past year and look ahead to exciting opportunities. See you there!

During the APCM, parents of babies and toddlers are welcome to use the creche where the meeting will be livestreamed. There won't be anyone to supervise the children in creche so please do stay with your child and pack away any toys you use before leaving. We will also have a DVD playing in the courtyard for older children to stay and watch during the meeting, which again will be unsupervised.

Ascension Day Service
There will be a churches together Ascension Day service at St Bart's on the 9th of May (Today) led by Revd Jacqui Hyde starting at 7pm.

St Barts Churchyard
If you have visited St Barts or been in the churchyard on top of the hill over the last couple of months you may have noticed that we are experimenting with our grass management regime. Charities like God's Acre encourage those responsible for churchyards around ancient churches like St Barts to trial ways of improving biodiversity in these spaces. We are also reviewing many aspects of spending as a church to consider whether they represent good stewardship. So far, we have delayed using our excellent contractor Mark Kelly and his team to cut the grass and have trialled just a few mown pathways among the graves. This has enabled many more spring flowers to be visible across the churchyard, but some are concerned that areas look unkempt. We review every few weeks what mowing to trial as we aim to care for the churchyard in a way that maintains its beauty, respects those buried there, and embraces the environmental opportunities its wonderful location provides.

Pastoral Care
As part of our Christian community, we provide mutual support for one another. Much of this happens informally with friends within the church and through the connect groups. However, sometimes people will require more personal support and encouragement either as a 'one-off chat' or on a more ongoing basis. We have a pastoral care team who can provide this type of care. Please contact Nigel Roe (Team Leader) on 07780 994827 or Rosi White on 07426 357967.
