News and Notices

Gloucester Foodbank
Gloucester Foodbank is running out of food and toiletries. They used to have six months supply in their warehouse. Now they have just one month's supply of food and toiletries. The reasons are simple—demand has increased year on year and in June 2024 they distributed 11021kgs of food etc—this was an increase of over 160% since pre-pandemic. Donations of food and toiletries have not kept pace with demand. They have been kept going by grants from the government and trusts, but this is only a short-term solution. Thank you to all the people who donate items or money. They are truly grateful. They know times are tough, but it would make a big difference if every donor bought just one extra item for the bank when shopping. Thanks to many supermarkets they will be holding special collections over the summer and Autumn, so please look out for them in their green Foodbank tops.

Youth and Children's Summer Provision
During the summer term, we will be taking a short break from our regular children's and youth groups to give our volunteers a much-needed rest. This means that until September 8th, we will not be running any youth groups on Sunday mornings. There will also be no regular groups for children. However, we will still provide supervised activities after the first 30 minutes of the service, except on all-age Sundays. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Space To Live In - Save the Date
Our next worship night "Space To Live In" will be taking place on the 1st of September starting at 7 pm and running through to 9 pm. Space To Live In is a night of extended worship, prayer, reflection and waiting. We aim to create a Space for people to spend time in God's presence. This will be replacing our usual Encounter service that day.

After School Club
St Andrews is excited to be opening our drop-in after-school club from September this year on Wednesdays from 3:15pm-4:45pm. We need two teams of volunteers to alternate with helping with the group fortnightly. This would mainly involve helping to set up and pack down as well as building relationships with the families who attend through crafts, games and most importantly conversations with both children and adults! For more information or to volunteer, contact Kate by emailing children@stastb.church

Summer Holiday Activity Morning
St Andrews Under The Sea Activities morning will be taking place on Wednesday 7th August. This is a drop-off event for children aged 4-11 and we encourage you to invite and bring along your friends for a fantastic morning of crafts, games, pirate puppets, water experiments, miraculous Bible stories and more! To find out more or to volunteer, email Kate on children@stastb.church or you can sign up on Churchsuite using this link: Under the Sea Activities Morning (07-Aug-2024) · ChurchSuite Events

Small Hall Refresh - August 6th
Our kid's teams would love somewhere they can display their artwork and crafts. For us to facilitate that we would need to refresh the small hall by painting it white. We are putting together a team, if you can help please sign up here. We urgently need a few more people to sign up for this.

Close The Gap' by Jonathan Perkin
Now that we are forgiven and assured of heaven, can we behave however we like? Paul replies, "You must be joking! Don't you know what has happened to you?" Our old vicar, Jonathan Perkin, explores this in his book 'Close The Gap,' featuring 31 daily readings on Romans 6. Don't miss out—grab your copy for just £5 in the foyer through Dave Fisher!

If you would like to include any updates in the weekly bulletin, send them to Adam. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday at 1pm.

Giving at St Andrew's and St Bartholomew's
Generous giving is an integral part of Christian discipleship. The apostle Paul says that giving is a primary responsibility for Christians: 'But since you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you – see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Cor 8:7. For more information on how to give and where your money goes please download our giving flyer here.

Pastoral Care
As part of our Christian community, we provide mutual support for one another. Much of this happens informally with friends within the church and through the connect groups. However, sometimes people will require more personal support and encouragement either as a 'one-off chat' or on a more ongoing basis. We have a pastoral care team who can provide this type of care. Please contact Nigel Roe (Team Leader) on 07780 994827 or Rosi White on 07426 357967.
